wedding music
Getting married in a Catholic ceremony without a mass, meeting with the music director soon- However I’m looking for dramatic music that will fit with our evening ceremony. What songs have you used or heard in Catholic weddings?

How about your favorite song? Something played on the radio during your your first kiss or one that means alot to the both of you.

Well the music will depend on the kind of instruments that are available to you.

If you have a full church organ then you can have a lot of fun with songs like the Tocatta and Fugue in D Minor by Bach or even the Dance of the Sugar Plum fairies by Tchaikovsky. If you want more religious sort of songs then simply go with your favourite hymn.

Ave Maria and Panis Angelicus sound really great with harps and are traditional Catholic hymns. The Trumpet Voluntary by Clarke has been converted into a piano/organ piece too and sounds really good.

I’m sure that the music director will be able to give you some good advice and will probably offer to play some things for you.

    Good luck with everthing.

I would let your music director make suggestions. They know what sounds best on their organ within the acoustics of the church and what they play best. Because my daughter is a Bach fan her prelude music was a Bach concert by our highly acccomplished organist. Music within the Catholic church follows relatively strict guidelines annd popular radio music isn’t one of them. To get some ideas try theknot.com and listen to the traditional clips there, it may help some .

Processionial -Jesu, Joy of Man’s Desiring; The Wedding (Ave Maria, by Julie Rogers)
Recessional – City of God (Schutte); Sing a New Song (Schutte)

    Dona Nobis Pacem
Like a Seal on your Heart (Landry)
